The National Careers Institute recently commissioned Refraction Media to publish a special edition – ‘Electrician: The Future is Clean Job Kit’ as part of their Careers with STEM magazine, an independent publication aimed at high school students, undergraduates and graduates, careers advisors, teachers and parents.
About the Job Kit:
- The Electrician Job Kit was released digitally on Monday 19 August 2024, during the National Skills Week. The publication is also linked under the Clean Energy resources section on the Your Career website – Clean Energy | Your Career
- The Job Kit features Jennah Halley, the 2022 Australian Apprentice of the Year who is breaking down barriers for women and First Nations people and Jack Higgins, the 2023 Northern Territory Apprentice of the Year, both sharing their firsthand experience working in the sector.
It also includes:
- links to supports and state and territory resources
- information about the New Energy Apprenticeships and the occupation and sector information on the Your Career website and
- a message from Australia’s Chief Scientist (Dr Cathy Foley) highlighting the central role of electricians in achieving Net Zero.
- The Job Kit will be promoted along with the Careers with STEM quarterly magazine, via e-newsletter and in print – with 9,000 printed copies to be distributed in October to Australian High Schools, STEM outreach programs, university career centres, careers advisors and various sponsors.
Additional copies will be available for order as either an annual subscription, a class set or individually via the Careers With Stem website.
This work forms part of the broader response to Jobs and Skills Australia’s 2023 clean energy workforce capacity study, The Clean Energy Generation , which called for the NCI to work with stakeholders to promote the clean energy sector and is a first output of our new clean energy promotions and advocacy work.
