Div 11 Local Area Works Approved In The 2020-2021 Budget

Dear Neighbour

OUR LOCAL BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS

Varsity College is an incredible asset to this community and is deserving of investment.

In recent months, I have been contacted by concerned parents seeking assistance on pedestrian safety improvements around both school campuses.

Following the adoption of the City Budget 2020-21 and the Division 11 local area works program on 22 June, I’m pleased to announce that several projects will get off the ground this financial year to address these safety concerns.

More specifically, the projects to unfold are:

• a signalised pedestrian crossing at Christine Avenue and Bridgewater Drive;
• the design of a brand new pick-up and drop-off area on Assembly Drive;
• an upgraded footpath for the Bridgewater Drive frontage; and
• the construction of a new pedestrian refuge on Christine Avenue.

There is so much more to look forward to for our community, with massive investments in our local roads, parklands and community centres.

I have put together a short 5-minute video showcasing just some of the budget highlights, watch it here:

In the meantime, if you have any other local concerns or suggestions, please get in touch with me on 07 5581 7282 or email division11@goldcoast.qld.gov.au

Yours sincerely
