The Queensland Schools Constitutional Convention, held at the end of July, was a remarkable gathering that united over 300 students from 40 State, Independent, and Catholic schools across all regions of Queensland.
Our Varsity College team, comprising Faith Cash, Alexander Earwicker, Sienna Earwicker, Andrew Fan, and Charlie Sochanik, delved into the fascinating topic of the establishment of Australia’s constitutional framework, examining its significance and relevance in today’s society. The team held robust debates on the balance between representative democracy and federalism, and are well-versed in the challenges around Constitutional reform.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Danielle Ireland-Piper, an esteemed Associate Professor at the ANU National Security College and an Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor at Bond University. Her invaluable contribution to our Varsity College team’s journey was truly remarkable.
Through her exclusive preparatory lecture prior to the Convention, Dr. Ireland-Piper shared insightful perspectives and engaged in captivating conversations that undoubtedly enriched our team’s understanding and enhanced their overall experience. We are immensely grateful for her guidance and support.
