Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Cr Hermann Vorster and Channel 9 News to our primary campus in honour of Schools Tree Day.
Schools Tree Day is part of National Tree Day, which started in 1996 and has grown into Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event. It’s a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to the community.
Cr Vorster again has donated a tree for every one of our primary families, with 1,500 plants being delivered and distributed during the day. Our students were treated to the musical stylings of Louise Kelly while collecting their greenery with a wonderful original tune dedicated to our oxygen producing beauties.
In the afternoon, members of Generation Green on the secondary campus were also able to plant some of the donated trees in the garden outside of the tuckshop area.
We wish all our primary families happy planting and thank you for contributing to the continuing growth and health of our environment.
