Thinking Outside of the Box: Problem Solving in Year 10 Mathematics

Mathematics surrounds us in our everyday lives and often provides the skills we need to solve problems. All Year 10 students will participate in solving a real-life problem this term.

Our problem-solvers in General Mathematics are considering reaction rates for males and females. Is one gender faster than the other? Does it matter more what a person does rather than what gender they are? Does playing online games like Fortnite improve how quickly a person reacts?

They are testing each other using their own experiments or reaction apps online, to collect enough data to decide what they believe is the answer to the problem posed. They are having fun in class, interacting with each other, all while learning essential skills for senior mathematics.
