Varsity College Takes All In The Schools Football League

Yesterday afternoon both our Junior Boys and Senior Girls took out the top spot of the inaugural Schools Football League competition.

Junior Boys won 3-2

Our Junior Boys came from behind twice in the match to win 3-2 in extra-time, whilst the Senior Girls won 1-0.

The Schools Football League is a newly formed competition for schools who run football programs and were looking for regular competition. This has been its inaugural year and has been a breath of fresh air for our ASPIRE students as they get to compete against players from a variety of different schools and leagues in Brisbane and here on the Gold Coast.

The competition has run all year and seen the students play home and away games all over SEQ. They have worked very hard at training twice a week and have shown great commitment to the ASPIRE Football program here at Varsity, a program that has been building since the early 2000’s and has seen multiple players go onto represent our District, Region and State in football.

Senior Girls won 1-0

We currently have at our College two students who play for the Brisbane Roar, Kaia and Nathan. Kia is only 13 years old and plays in the Roar’s U15 team while Nathan is only 16 years old and plays U23’s and Seniors. Nathan recently was voted player of the carnival at the U16’s State Titles earlier this year. The talent of footballers here at Varsity is outstanding and the envy of many a school, not just here on the Gold Coast, but across the SEQ football community.

Congratulations to our Varsity Vikings!!
