A huge Congratulation to three of the Varsity Vikings AFL ASPIRE girls who recently competed in the U18 AFL Championships. Havana, Nyalli and Sienna had the opportunity to play against Victoria Country and Metro as well as an Allies team, and won games against Victoria Country and the Allies.
After speaking with all three, Nyalli had this to say about the experience, “The opportunity to play against girls who are highly skilled and very well organised was amazing”, and Sienna backed it up with “To think we were playing against girls who will be drafted into the AFLW over the next couple of years, is pretty cool”.
Havanna went on to be named in the All Australian team that was selected from the all the teams who participated in the carnival. “I’m so very pleased to be named in the team, to be one of only two Queenslanders named is a huge honour. The carnival provided me with a chance to test myself against the best and to take on older players and to come out of it being named in the All Australian team was just amazing”.
All three girls are eligible to play for the next couple of years in the U18’s team.
