Over 215 Year 6 students recently attended our Varsity College Aspire Sport Trials, competing for positions within our highly regarded Sporting Programs for 2026, attracting students and families from as far as Sydney!

Across our four specialist Aspire programs: AFL, Football, Basketball and our Athlete Development Program (ADP), students were assessed across a range of areas including fitness, game play, sporting application, behaviour, effort and coachability.

It is an exciting time to be involved in our Aspire Sporting Programs, with the future continuing to look exceptionally bright for our future champions!

Recently, our Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting visit to @seaworldaus to consolidate their learning about ecosystems and habitats. Students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding through the engaging Hunger Games show and will now apply their knowledge by creating an information report on an animal of their choice.

Some highlights of the day included the amazing dolphin and seal presentation, as well as the action-packed stunt show to finish the day. It was wonderful to see students learning, exploring and making real-world connections beyond the classroom!

Recently, our Primary Campus Aspire Robotics team proudly represented Varsity College at the Gold Coast SUMO Robotics Championships. This event brought together 18 schools and more than 140 teams from across the region to compete in exciting one-on-one battles of robotic design, engineering and coding.

For many of our students, this was both their first year in Aspire Robotics and their first robotics competition. In the lead-up to the event, they worked tirelessly, often giving up their lunchtimes to design, build, program and test their robots, while overcoming a range of complex engineering challenges.

Their dedication and perseverance resulted in some outstanding achievements on the day, including several competition awards! Congratulations to all our Robotics Aspire students involved for their dedication, teamwork and effort throughout the competition. They certainly did us proud!

Recently, our Year 3 students were thrilled to welcome Street Science for an exciting day of hands-on learning and discovery!

Throughout the day, students explored a range of chemical reactions, using thermometers to investigate how heat can be produced and absorbed. They also tested the ability of different materials to conduct thermal energy and observe how they allow state change.

To finish the day, students were amazed by the signature Street Science Heat Energy show. Featuring spectacular fire and liquid nitrogen demonstrations, students discovered how heat can be produced, transferred between objects and have dramatic observable effects on materials around us.

Training is now in full swing as our Varsity College students and staff prepare to take on the Kokoda Challenge for 2026!

Over the coming months our participants will be putting in the hard work through training and fundraising for the challenge ahead, all whilst spreading awareness of the Kokoda values; Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice!

We are extremely proud of this year’s teams and wish them the best of luck as they take on Australia’s toughest team endurance event!

Book Fair has arrived on our Primary Campus! This week, students had the chance to explore the stalls and discover a wide range of exciting new books, taking home wish lists filled with their favourites ahead of ordering next week.

Book Fair contributes to our school community as funds raised during the event will be reinvested into our library, providing additional resources to enhance student education and learning experiences at our college!

We can’t wait to continue the celebrations as our annual Character Parade returns next term for National Book Week!

Last week on our Primary Campus, our prep students engaged in an educational 'Creature Feature' experience by Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre. Students interacted with a variety of native Australian animals (primarily reptiles) to develop an appreciation for the unique wildlife in Australia.

Through this engaging experience, they identify the basic needs of various reptiles, recognising their similarities and differences.By observing each animal and noting their features, students describe the habitats where these animals live and explore how they grow and change over time. Discussions on the care requirements of the reptiles allow students to compare these with common pets they might have at home.

Our Primary Campus Mother’s Day stall has returned for 2026 with the remainder of our students visiting tomorrow, ahead of the big day this weekend! Our P&C have been hard at work helping students find the perfect gift for the special caregivers in their lives.

This offering is made possible by the numerous smiling volunteers who repeatedly give their time and energy to helping the Primary students at Varsity College. As always, thank you for your time and dedication towards opportunities like this for our Students.
