Last week our College proudly celebrated World Environment Day with the help of our amazing Generation Green students!

On our Primary Campus, students led and facilitated a range of fun, hands-on activities for all year levels, promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Using recyclable materials and eco-friendly resources, students explored creative ways to care for our planet while learning the importance of reducing waste and making sustainable choices.

This week our Secondary Campus officially commenced the Push-Up Challenge for 2026, already collectively hitting over 29,000 Push-ups!

Every push-up, sit-up, plank, wall sit or assisted push-up helps us raise awareness for mental health, encourage important conversations and showing support for those in our community who may be struggling.

This challenge is about much more than push-ups. The target of 3,307 push-ups represents the 3,307 lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2025. Through our collective efforts, we are aiming to highlight the importance of mental health, encourage conversations, and remind our community that support and connection matter.

Zavier is headed to Mexico! Later this year, Zavier will be stepping onto the world stage after being just one of three Queenslanders selected in the Australian U15 Baseball Team for the upcoming WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup.

Before the World Cup begins, he will travel to the University of Houston in the USA for an elite week-long training camp as Team Australia prepares to take on the world’s best, including the likes of Germany, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Cuba, USA and South Africa!

This is an outstanding accomplishment for Zavier, his family, coaches and supporters, and an exciting opportunity to showcase Australian baseball talent against the very best young players on the planet!

Last week our Year 6 Students had the pleasure of attending Maranatha Recreation Camp, located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast!

Students geared and challenged themselves with a range of activities including Tree Top Ropes, Tower of Tremble, Leap of Faith, Giant swing, Archery, Bush skills and so much more!

While the weather wasn’t always on our side, our students didn’t let it get in the way of the fun! They embraced every challenge, made lifelong memories and enjoyed an incredible camp experience!

Our Year 9 Engineering students recently put their learning into action by racing CO₂-powered cars! This exciting project challenged students to apply the engineering design process all the way from R&D to analysing aerodynamics to optimise their designs.

They were then able to bring their ideas to life now through 3D printing, transforming their digital designs into fully functional CO₂ racers ready for competition! The project culminated in a thrilling race day, where students competed against one another and saw firsthand how their engineering choices influenced performance on the track!

Over 215 Year 6 students recently attended our Varsity College Aspire Sport Trials, competing for positions within our highly regarded Sporting Programs for 2026, attracting students and families from as far as Sydney!

Across our four specialist Aspire programs: AFL, Football, Basketball and our Athlete Development Program (ADP), students were assessed across a range of areas including fitness, game play, sporting application, behaviour, effort and coachability.

It is an exciting time to be involved in our Aspire Sporting Programs, with the future continuing to look exceptionally bright for our future champions!

Recently, our Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting visit to @seaworldaus to consolidate their learning about ecosystems and habitats. Students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding through the engaging Hunger Games show and will now apply their knowledge by creating an information report on an animal of their choice.

Some highlights of the day included the amazing dolphin and seal presentation, as well as the action-packed stunt show to finish the day. It was wonderful to see students learning, exploring and making real-world connections beyond the classroom!

Recently, our Primary Campus Aspire Robotics team proudly represented Varsity College at the Gold Coast SUMO Robotics Championships. This event brought together 18 schools and more than 140 teams from across the region to compete in exciting one-on-one battles of robotic design, engineering and coding.

For many of our students, this was both their first year in Aspire Robotics and their first robotics competition. In the lead-up to the event, they worked tirelessly, often giving up their lunchtimes to design, build, program and test their robots, while overcoming a range of complex engineering challenges.

Their dedication and perseverance resulted in some outstanding achievements on the day, including several competition awards! Congratulations to all our Robotics Aspire students involved for their dedication, teamwork and effort throughout the competition. They certainly did us proud!

Recently, our Year 3 students were thrilled to welcome Street Science for an exciting day of hands-on learning and discovery!

Throughout the day, students explored a range of chemical reactions, using thermometers to investigate how heat can be produced and absorbed. They also tested the ability of different materials to conduct thermal energy and observe how they allow state change.

To finish the day, students were amazed by the signature Street Science Heat Energy show. Featuring spectacular fire and liquid nitrogen demonstrations, students discovered how heat can be produced, transferred between objects and have dramatic observable effects on materials around us.
