This week, our Secondary Campus welcomed back esteemed guest conductor, Mr. David Law, to work with our Varsity College Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, in intensive workshop sessions.

Mr. Law is a highly sought-after instrumental music pedagogue and conductor, who is regularly engaged to work with outstanding ensembles in Brisbane and across Queensland. He is the conductor of the Queensland Wind Orchestra (one of Australia’s leading wind bands) and the Queensland Youth Orchestras Wind Ensemble. Students were extended in a wide range of musical and technical areas, and all ensembles greatly benefited and improved in their performance and understanding.

We thank Mr. David Law for coming to work with our wonderful Instrumental Music students, and commend these students on their learning and outstanding progress made during these sessions!

Last week, our Instrumental Music Department presented ‘A Little Chamber Music’ (a la ‘A Little Night Music’) Concert on our Secondary Campus for families, students and visiting alumni. This event showcased our small ensembles such as Quartets and Trios, and provided a legitimate performance opportunity for students’ formal assessment requirements.

Many of the ensembles within our Chamber Music program have recently performed, or will soon be performing, in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod 2026. Congratulations and thank you to our amazing staff and students who made this event not only possible, but an incredible success!

A huge thank you to Cr Dan Doran and Hinterland Toyota Robina for helping our Primary Campus celebrate School Tree Day last Friday, where native trees were distributed to our Varsity families by Generation Green students!

Toyota representatives also brought along their latest electric vehicle, giving students an engaging opportunity to explore its environmental and sustainability features.

This weekend we're opening our doors for our Market Thrift Store Day, welcoming our friends, families and wider Varsity College community. With food trucks, refreshments and relaxing live music on offer throughout the morning, it's the perfect opportunity to browse for some unique finds while supporting a wonderful cause!

Join us this Saturday on our Secondary Campus as we open to the public from 8am to 12pm!

All money raised will be donated to YoungCare, our College’s chosen charity for 2026, with any physical donations remaining after the event being donated to Hearts of Purple, supporting families recovering from the effects of domestic violence.

Despite exhaustion, our teams pushed through with valiant effort, crossing the finish line from anywhere between 7:00pm Saturday to 2:00pm on Sunday Afternoon! Congratulations Vikings, your perseverance & resilience are truly inspiring, and we’re extremely proud of your determination and hard work; it truly paid off!

Our 2026 Community Pillar Clothing Drive is now underway! Open to our students and staff throughout the week, our community came together to donate an amazing range of pre-loved clothing at fantastic prices, with most items priced at $5!

Today our Prep students took part in the Teddy Bear Hospital program, delivered by Bond University Medical and Health Science students.

Through fun, hands-on learning stations with their favourite soft toy, students developed important health and wellbeing skills, including hand washing, sun safety, first aid, recognising emergencies, visiting the doctor and caring for injuries!

What an incredible day it was at our Secondary Campus Athletics Carnival for 2026!

Competing in a wide range of track and field events, students earned points for their houses and had an absolute blast while doing so! The crowds were a sea of colour between students showing their support of their houses, alongside our Year 12 students in their amazing outfits!

Congratulations to all students who participated, a big shoutout to those who went home with medals, and a special thank you to all the staff who made this year’s event possible! #wearevarsity #govikings
