Late last term, Our College received the fantastic news that four of our incredible Year 8 students have been appointed to the 2023 Global Youth Summit Student Advisory Council.
They are part of a very select group of Queensland students appointed to this prestigious group.
Congratulation to Saskia Knevitt, Sienna Earwicker, Amelia Witkowski and Alexander Earwicker.
The 2023 Queensland Global Youth Summit will bring together Year 8 to 10 students from various schools in Brisbane and Cairns to foster global competence. The program will consist of four synchronous online workshops and several asynchronous learning activities, which will be delivered throughout Term 3 and Term 4. The program will culminate in an all-day, in-person Summit for students on October 17th.
The Summit and workshops are designed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of global competence, perspectives, diversity, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, effective communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Throughout the program, students will consider how they can “think globally, act locally” by developing a range of actions to promote inclusivity and equity in their local school communities, which they will showcase at the Summit in October.
We are excited to have these amazing students selected to be members of the Council, and very proud and confident in the knowledge that they are representing Varsity College so admirably.
