Recently, our Varsity College Chamber Strings were treated to very special visit to the School of Music, University of Queensland.
Chamber Strings students met and worked intensively in multiple workshop sessions with Mr. Patrick Murphy, lecturer in Cello performance, and highly regarded Chamber musician. These sessions were immeasurably valuable to our students and staff, in their musical understanding, technique and performance.
Several of our senior students are working to pursue tertiary study in music performance and/or education, so this opportunity provided a unique insight into their preferred study pathway.
As part of the visit, students were excited to meet and perform for professional composer, Dr. Samuel Dickenson, who earlier in 2026 wrote an original composition especially for the Varsity College Chamber Strings.
We thank Mr. Patrick Murphy and the School of Music, University of Queensland for collaborating with Varsity College to provide this amazing opportunity for our Instrumental Music students.
