Day 11 – Harry Potter and the West End

Today was our first full day in London, and we split into 2 groups to enjoy Harry Potter Studios and the West End theatre show. The Harry Potter fans travelled by coach to the studios and enjoyed a ‘magical’ day learning about the making of the films, exploring sets, enjoying Harry Potter themed treats and of course shopping up a storm (there may or may not be a lot of wands travelling back to Australia!). The theatre group took a ride on the London Underground, and spent the day visiting Camden Market and Harrods before we all met up in Covent Garden to enjoy the markets and street performers in this iconic part of central London. We enjoyed a traditional fish and chips dinner where two of our Varsity teachers, Mr Parker and Miss Houston, who are currently on leave living and working in England joined us to catch up with the students. The theatre group then made its way to the Novello Theatre for Mamma Mia while the Harry Potter fans headed back to the hotel for a games night. The Mamma Mia production was amazing, and there was plenty of dancing in our seats! A highlight for the students was waiting by the stage door and getting to meet the stars of the show afterwards. Certainly an amazing day in London 🙂
