What. A. Day. We started our morning with a 1.5 hour drive from Geneva to Montreux to visit Chateau de Chillon, an island medieval castle located on Lake Geneva. We had a self guided tour through the castle, exploring the prison that housed Francois Bonivard and inspired Lord Byron’s poem, The Prisoner of Chillon. From the castle, we then travelled a further 1.5 hours through the Swiss countryside to Glacier 3000. The chalets that dotted the hillsides were gorgeous, and the journey was an experience in of itself. We travelled by cable car and chair lift to the 3000m summit of the glacier. There, we completed the peak walk, enjoyed some hot chocolates and of course took in the simply breath taking views. Highlights for the students was most certainly the Alpine Coaster, a sled down the mountain side, and time having snow ball fights and tobogganing in the snow. This was certainly a day that we will all remember.
