Our Year 3 cohort of students have kicked off their Digital Technology lessons with a fantastic first session using our new Lego WeDo equipment. Students worked in small groups to build a snail using Lego bricks, before using software to program their snails to act out a series of sounds and light sequences. Students then created a journal of their snail’s actions using layout, pictures, video and text.
All children were totally engaged in every element of the lesson and followed each step diligently within their groups. It was amazing to see how easily they grasped the skills required for working with the new equipment and how inspired and enthusiastic they were during the lesson!
A sincere thankyou goes out to all families who helped our college collect Woolworths Earn and Learn points in 2019, we were able to redeem some of the stickers collected last year to buy these kits. We highly encourage families to get behind this amazing incentive this year so we can continue to earn more resources for our children.
Mrs Eckert can’t wait to further develop the engineering and computational thinking skills across the students in all year levels this year. 2020 is off to a great start in the Digital Technology curriculum area!
