Generation Green students in Years 9-11 attended a fabulous Forest Regeneration program in Numinbah Valley.
After learning about the region, it’s history, and why it needs our assistance, students built nesting boxes for a variety of animals including possums and birds. Piecing together the boxes, learning about their features and how they assist wildlife, as well as using power tools, was all part of the fun.
After lunch, we set out to the part of the Valley where the nesting boxes will be erected. As a group, we planted over 200 plants from a variety of native species. These trees will eventually provide habitat to the local native fauna.
A huge thank you to Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre for providing us with the opportunity to learn new skills and to be able to directly contribute to the restoration of this important, and incredibly beautiful region.
