Last week our Student Council for 2024 met for the first time as an entire group, comprised of the Grade 12 student leadership team and the nominated class representatives from every form class across the Secondary Campus.
Led by Mr Sochanik, Ms Fraser and Ms Breeden, the focus of the first meeting was to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the class reps as the voice of the student body and that for the first time ever, the students have a genuine means with which to communicate ideas and concerns to the senior administration of the school through the newly formed Student Council.
The first order of business was for a few of the class reps to nominate for the executive positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Student Council. These executive positions will be help by the students that wish to run the Student Council from this point forward and it will be a body of students run by the student, for the students. The applicants gave a short speech in front of their peers during the meeting and then the class reps voted for their executives. The successful applicants will be presented at our next meeting in week 8 and the real business of the Student Council can commence. Exciting times ahead!
