Earlier this week our ASPIRE footballers welcomed Mabel Park State High School to compete in the second last round of the Schools Football League.
Our Junior Boys put in an extremely strong performance with many new faces taking to the field for their first Schools Football League game. They boys scored early and continue to score frequently and eventually ran out 13 – 0, winners on the day. The success continued on from the boys with our Senior girls next to take the pitch.
The girls had been struck down with a few injuries before the match but showed plenty of the Varsity Viking fighting spirt to win 8 – 0. Finally our Senior Boys had the hardest battle of the day and were able to draw first blood when they score mid-way through the first half, however Mabel Park struck back almost straight away and the scores remained locked at 1 – 1 for the rest of the game.
All of the students were fantastic yesterday and were especially appreciative of the support from their peers who came out to cheer them on during lunch breaks.
There is one round left of the Schools Football League and things are getting tight at the top of the table with our Junior Boys and Senior Girls have a good chance of playing finals football.
