On Friday, March 22, the Varsity College Tier 1 STEM Ambassador Leaders (Lana, Lev, Angel, Adeela, Braidyn and Ryan) had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Griffith University STEM Ambassadors Conference in South Bank, Brisbane. The day involved a variety of STEM workshops and presentations with the aim of developing the STEM spirit within Varsity College. These workshops included a range of professionals, such as entrepreneurial experts, and world-renowned scientist – Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki.
They learnt that a good idea is always hidden in every bad idea and the need to identify these to develop the idea further is required rather than simply discarding it. Doctor Karl emphasized to them the rapidly expanding and incredible capabilities of technology and the importance to utilise what we have to better our world.
Throughout the day, students were given the opportunity to listen to other schools and how they have incorporated the STEM program within their curriculum. Overall, it was an extremely engaging experience for the students and they now return to Varsity with a wide variety of ideas for the future.
