On Tuesday 14 November, Varsity College went to Heritage Bank Stadium to defend their title of the “Best NFL Flag team in Australia”.
It was not only the title of National Champions on the line as winning team gets to travel to Orlando, Florida and become Team Australia in the international NFL Flag Championships.
As the reigning champions, Varsity were under a lot of pressure but the experience gained in Las Vegas earlier in the year shone through. The competition was very tough and despite a number of close calls, the team were able to successfully defend their National Crown.
Two players were identified as the standout performers of the day, our running machine, Lincoln Skalij and our quarterback Kane Buchanan with Kane being awarded the player of the tournament.
Now the team can look forward to some more training and an all expenses paid trip to Orlando Florida in February where they will represent Varsity College as “Team Australia”!
