After a long time on the sidelines, wishing, wanting and yearning to be back on the court…..we are finally back! The sweet, sweet sound of sneakers squeaking, basketballs bouncing on the hardwood and the nets going SWISH!!! The ASPIRE Basketball Program is back on court and the students have not missed a beat with all four programs hitting the court running!
With all four programs returning to the court in week 6, all players have taken no time at all to get back into the swing of things. Training sessions have been intense, competition has been fierce and the fire in the belly to be the best high school program around is BACK!!! During our training sessions, players are playing for each other, pushing their teammates to new heights and picking each other up off the floor when they are knocked down. The culture amongst our teams is inspiring and I cannot wait to see them hit the floor when we can return to game play.
With the school holidays looming and as restrictions begin to ease, all programs will be returning to two training sessions per week as we begin to prepare for a plethora of games and competitions in term three. Next term all four programs will be taking part in games, competitions and tournaments to test out their training against the best schools in South East Queensland as we will see competitions for our U13’, U15’s and the much anticipated CBSQ State Championships for our Senior teams.
So far, it has been a great return to the court and we’re all looking forward to playing plenty of games in Term three. As the late and great Kobe Bryant said, “I’ll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it’s sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.” Our players are ready to play for the name on the front of the jersey, and not the name on the back of it!
The VC VIKINGS BASKETBALL program is back!
