STEM Coordinator Sally Davis and a group of her students participated in Education Queensland International’s inaugural Global Schools Challenge, which saw us partner with an overseas school to create a presentation/educational video about an issue facing young people today.
Varsity worked together with Nan Kwang Junior and Senior High School from Taiwan and were not only successful in winning the ‘Cultural Leadership’ category, but also in being crowned the overall Global Schools Challenge winners for 2021.
Collaborative efforts between the students in Taiwan and VC’s own team had developed a unique perspective of what cultural leadership means to them. As future leaders, this group provided recommendations by putting their project into action and presenting their findings to younger students in their schools. They attended multi-cultural and anti-bullying events as well as embedding a great awareness of ethical issues, empathetic reflection and strategies developed within each culture.
Congratulations to all involved, with students being presented with a trophy and certificates in term 2.
