Today we’re excited to officially announced and acknowledge our brave staff and students who will be participating in this years World’s Greatest Shave.
Our students will be shaving their heads, to raise much needed funds which will be used to support Australian families navigating a complicated health system and every scary, uncertain moment following a blood cancer diagnosis.
Our students are aiming to raise $10,000 this year, beating our record of $7,000 from 2021. Click Here to view our team’s donation page, and help our Varsity Vikings reach their goal.
Learn more about our courageous participants and the story behind their World’s Greatest Shave journey below.
Elke, Year 7
I am participating in this event because I feel like cancer has already had a large impact on my life by taking away some of the dearest people in my family. Watching someone suffer with any kind of cancer is awful.
Leukemia has had an effect on my Mum and Dad’s family and I wish that families didn’t have to face this awful disease. My Grumps (Grandfather) was lost to a melanoma and my Cousin was lost to the ravages of brain cancer.
This all happened in the same year and was a very hard time for my family. I have mostly had long hair my entire life, so shaving it all off will be a big change in my life. Though the cause is fully worth it, and I would greatly appreciate your any support you can give me and my family in my journey. I am nervous but also very excited.
Sara, Year 7
I am participating in this event because I feel like 2 years ago, a very close family member of mine was diagnosed with cancer but thankfully it was caught in its earliest stage.
So, this year, I have decided to cut my hair and raise money for the world’s greatest shave/leukaemia foundation because I believe that it is an amazing cause. By doing this exceptionally easy task, it can help change countless people’s life’s whom are being affected by blood cancer.
Georgia, Year 8
I’m taking part in World’s Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation! I’m on a mission to shave the world from blood cancer. Whilst my family has not directly been affected by leukemia we have been affected by other types of cancer.
My grandmother had Mesothelioma, an asbestos related cancer. She unfortunately lost her fight when my mum was only 20 years old. My mum was also diagnosed and treated for an olfactory neuroblastoma. These were both very uncommon and difficult to treat types of cancer.
Because of this I do understand the effect deadly cancer diseases can have on an individual, their family, and circumstances. Please sponsor me to give families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need. You’ll also fund vital research to help more people survive blood cancer, whilst improving their quality of life. Thank You!
Jet, Year 7
My message for why i am shaving is a few years ago my brother was rushed into hospital for what was thought to be leukaemia.
He was held in for 3 weeks for constant fainting, nausea, high temps and low white blood count. I am now aware of what families have to go through and am doing my part to help beat blood cancer and hope you can too!

Friends! After the recent passing of my Uncle Dennis, and in memory of the loss of my beautiful cousin Shelley, I have decided to take the rather brave step of shaving for a cure this year!
