Winning 7 Medals at the National School Titles for Swimming

Recently, Roxanne Albertyn competed in the National School Titles for swimming here on the Gold Coast.

The journey to Nationals began in week 3 of term 1 at our very own swimming carnival. Roxanne dominated at this carnival, winning age champion and then progressing to District trials where she dominated the pool again! From there she went to regional trials where she again rained supreme winning multiple events, qualifying her for states!

It was at States where Roxanne stamped her authority on the rest of the field winning multiple events and qualifying to represent Queensland at Nationals that only took place in week 4 of this term.

It was at Nationals where the rest of the country got to see the true Champion that Roxanne is. She won 5 gold medals in the 50m & 100m Freestyle, as well as the 200 Individual Medley, which she says was the highlight of all the golds, and the other two in relay teams. Along with the golds she won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m butterfly.

All of this success does not just happen, Roxanne swims six to seven sessions a week and up to 30km a week in the pool. Roxanne proves that with hard work you can achieve amazing things.

Congratulations to Roxann, we cant wait to come along on the journey over the next few years!
