In honour of Women In Engineering Day on Tuesday June 23rd, a group of senior students showed off their talents and described their interest in pursuing a career in the field of engineering.
These students indicated the mathematical basis and varied materials available for use as drawcards to the industry as well a keen interest in the concepts ITD has introduced.
In a recent year 12 assessment, Jessica Wilson smashed the criteria in constructing the above bridge, designed to hold at least 5kg, while having a breaking point of less than 7kg. Jessica’s bridge failed at 5.7kg using balsa wood and fishing line tension members.
We can’t wait to see what these talented students create in the future.
