Today, the Secondary Campus welcomed two year 6 classes to explore our science laboratories with the guidance of our year 9-12 STEM leaders. The leaders mentored the younger students in various chemical and physical reactions, to aid their understanding of the topic “physical and chemical changes”.
The activities included observing an iodine clock reaction, conducting a metal-acid pop test, and creating slime. Additionally, the students participated in a STEM challenge that involved simulating the removal of oil from the ocean.
The participants were given a budget to purchase equipment to effectively remove the most oil, and two groups emerged victorious in the competition
