Model UN Conference | March 2026

At the end of last term, Varsity College United Nations Club members participated in our own Model UN conference, mirroring diplomats at UN by devising sustainable strategies and debating global issues.

During this event delegates are allocated countries to represent and research, collaborating with other nations to draft a resolution. As students learned about diplomacy and even waged war against each other, they addressed real-life development possibilities regarding the use of AI to promote UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education. After sharing their opening statements about their country’s position, students engaged in formal and informal debates by negotiating with others and proposing new ideas.

Moreover, former UN club members studying international relations at Bond University opened the event and chaired the first session, meanwhile after attending a Model UN at the UN headquarters in New York! This conference provided an enlightening experience, highlighting the significance of international co-operation in tackling one of the most pressing issues facing the world currently.

Many thanks to Miss De Britt and Mr Sultmann for organising the event and giving students this remarkable opportunity!
